Bringing history to life while walking

The beautiful Drenthe nature attracts a lot of tourists. However, once there, activities can be limited. That's why Faraday has collaborated with Kiemkr8 to develop unique "experience routes" that make a location more appealing for visitors.

This time, we were tasked with creating something for the former military base Havelterberg. Once a storage site for tactical nuclear weapons, now a peaceful piece of forest. A location with a tumultuous but hidden history.

Inspired by iconic pop songs from the Cold War era (like "De Bom" and "99 Luftballons"), we opted for an audio experience. We recorded unique covers of these songs with local choirs, complemented by interviews with demonstrators, military personnel, experts, and residents.

De Bom FM makes the story of the Cold War in Drenthe accessible to a wide audience, from veterans to schoolchildren. Not just informative but also upbeat and captivating!
